Role Overview

The Assistant Manager – Procurement will report to the Department Head and be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation items. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier management, cost optimization, and cross-functional coordination to support GPE’s modular plant projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with 8-10 years of experience in procurement within the engineering or process equipment industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Float enquiries to suppliers for each item group and receive quotations for negotiation.
• Evaluate techno-commercial bids, terms, and conditions to achieve better negotiation outcomes on price and contractual terms.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and proactively address any supply chain issues.
• Submit offers for products during the pre-order stage, supporting the sales and project teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and project management to align procurement activities with project timelines.
• Work on reducing dependency on single vendors by developing alternative sources to optimize quality, delivery period, and credit terms.
• Conduct spend analysis and contribute to budgeting processes to ensure cost control.
• Reduce turnaround time (TAT) for internal and external stakeholders involved in business operations.

Tech Stack

• ERP/SAP (hands-on experience required)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for spend analysis and reporting
• Familiarity with procurement modules and inventory management systems

BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Electronics with 8-10 years of procurement experience; hands-on ERP/SAP, negotiation skills, fluency in English.
