Role Overview

As an AWS and Linux Middleware Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our operations, working closely with various teams to tackle some of the most challenging technology problems. This remote position will empower you to utilize your expertise in middleware technologies and Linux administration while collaborating with both Innovecture and client teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain middleware components such as application servers, web servers, message brokers, and integration platforms on Linux systems.
• Design and operate middleware in AWS using native services including EC2, EBS, ELB, Auto Scaling, VPC, IAM, AWS Systems Manager, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.
• Install, patch, and harden middleware software according to established security and configuration standards.
• Develop and maintain automation for software deployment, leveraging tools such as Ansible and Python.
• Monitor middleware health, capacity, and performance, tuning parameters to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents within the middleware stack, driving root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
• Manage lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, platform migrations, and decommissioning of services.
• Support CI/CD pipelines through integration of middleware deployments and artifact management.
• Document runtimes, create runbooks, and maintain standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with application teams to onboard new applications and optimize middleware configurations for performance.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for critical production environments, ensuring compliance with all necessary policies.

• 4+ years experience as a Linux Middleware Engineer along with AWS.
• Strong Linux administration skills (Solaris, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu) — installation, filesystem, networking, process, kernel tuning, SELinux basics.
• Deep experience with one or more middleware technologies: Apache HTTPD, NGINX, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, Memcached, HAProxy, F5, etc.
• Solid knowledge of automation and configuration management: Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef; ability to write reusable playbooks/modules.
• Proficiency in scripting using Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.
• Familiarity with high-availability, clustering, load balancing, and failover techniques for middleware.
• Strong problem-solving, incident management, and communication skills.
