Role Overview

As a Databricks Practice Lead / Architect, you will be the founding technical leader of a new practice dedicated to Databricks solutions. This role requires a visionary approach to define delivery standards and lead the architectural direction for pivotal client engagements. You will collaborate closely with engineers to ensure high-quality delivery and be well-versed in key areas of data engineering and machine learning workloads deployed on the Databricks platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the technical architecture and best practices for Databricks solutions involving data engineering, lakehouse architectures, and AI/ML workloads.
• Spearhead solution design for new implementations and migrations, ensuring adherence to the latest technology and governance standards.
• Act as the primary technical lead in pre-sales activities by scoping client requirements and designing suitable architecture solutions.
• Build and update reference architectures and reusable templates to improve efficiency in client engagements.
• Mentor and support engineering teams, facilitating code and architecture reviews while addressing technical challenges.
• Engage actively with practice leadership to set hiring needs and skill enhancement strategies for the team.

Tech Stack

• Programming Languages: PySpark, Spark SQL.
• Platforms: Databricks (including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, MLflow).
• Cloud Providers: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Tools and Frameworks: Auto Loader, structured streaming, data governance tools.

Requirements

• Experience: 8–14 years in data engineering/architecture roles, with at least 4 years of hands-on Databricks and Apache Spark in production environments.
• Technical Skills: Deep expertise in PySpark/Spark SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks workflows.
• Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP); Azure Databricks preferred.
• Leadership: Proven experience in client-facing technical roles, solutioning, presenting architectures, and responding to technical objections.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Certifications (Preferred): Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional, Databricks Certified Solutions Architect.
