Role Overview
We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Platform Services team in Hyderabad, India. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with people management responsibility. You will own the infrastructure and backend services that form the backbone of Truveta's engineering organization globally. The Platform Services team builds and operates Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, authentication/authorization services, and other shared platform capabilities. You will define the technical vision, drive architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure reliable, scalable delivery. You will work closely with product, data, machine learning, security, and engineering teams across India and the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Platform Leadership
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for Platform Services.
- Lead design and implementation of scalable, secure, highly available cloud infrastructure and backend services.
- Guide architecture across Kubernetes, networking, identity, security, developer tooling, and shared services.
- Build and operate platforms supporting engineering, data, ML, annotation, and internal workflow needs.
- Develop and manage Kubernetes-based platforms and cloud-native services.
- Improve authentication, authorization, identity management, and access control services.
- Drive CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and developer self-service capabilities.
- Establish engineering standards for design, API development, testing, code quality, observability, and operational readiness.
- Balance near-term delivery with long-term scalability and technical health.
Product & Delivery Leadership
- Partner with product, program management, data, ML, security, and engineering teams to define priorities.
- Translate business needs into clear technical strategies and delivery plans.
- Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across platform initiatives.
- Manage cross-team dependencies and mitigate execution risks.
- Define and track metrics for platform adoption, reliability, performance, and developer productivity.
POD & People Leadership
- Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team in India.
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and career development.
- Foster a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
- Establish effective planning and execution processes.
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering teams in India and the United States.
- Partner with U.S.-based stakeholders across time zones.
- Represent the India Platform Services team in architecture and organizational forums.
- Build strong relationships with internal customers to ensure platform services meet organizational needs.

- Developer Tools & Observability: Developer productivity tools, monitoring, logging, distributed tracing (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
- Security: Secrets management (Vault), zero-trust models, policy enforcement
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: ₹3,00,000 - ₹5,00,000 per month, depending on experience.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years software engineering experience.
- 3+ years in technical leadership/people management.
- Experience leading teams responsible for shared platforms, infrastructure, backend services, or developer tooling.
- Strong experience with distributed systems and production-grade backend services.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, networking.
- Experience with authentication, authorization, identity management.
- Proficiency in at least one language: C#, Java, Go, Python.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications include experience in healthcare/life sciences, working with Azure, identity protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML), service mesh, and globally distributed teams.
