Role Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Manager who will lead a multi-pod team of senior engineers dedicated to delivering excellence in cloud, data, and AI/ML projects. This hands-on leadership role requires managing multiple client engagements simultaneously, with responsibilities that encompass engineering quality, team development, and effective project delivery. The ideal candidate will not only manage but will also engage with technical specifics and assist engineers in overcoming challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of 15-25 engineers across 2-4 client engagements while balancing client commitments with engineer development.
• Conduct weekly delivery reviews utilizing engineering metrics to assess delivery quality, health, and operational efficiency.
• Manage the execution of Statements of Work (SOW) through effective communication with stakeholders and detailed planning.
• Collaborate with Pre-Sales teams to define technical scopes and staffing models for prospective projects.
• Ensure that engineering standards are maintained across all pods, particularly regarding code review practices and production readiness.
• Facilitate decision-making on architecture and oversee the post-launch evaluation of client engagements to ensure continuous improvement.
• Engage in direct people management, enhancing the growth and performance of senior engineers, and contributing to our collaborative engineering culture.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in building and operating production software.
• At least 3 years of experience managing engineers.
• Hands-on technical depth in at least two of the following: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Looker, Elasticsearch, modern data engineering, or AI/ML systems.
• Working knowledge of container and deployment patterns on GCP such as Kubernetes and Cloud Run.
• Strong track record in managing end-to-end shipping of client engagements.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to handle ambiguity in consulting environments.
