Role Overview

As a Quality Check Intern – Hardware, you will serve as the critical checkpoint for all recording rigs used in field operations. These rigs travel to businesses where Field Officers record hours of footage; if a rig is faulty, a full day's work is lost and business relationships can be damaged. Your role ensures that every rig that leaves for the field is in perfect condition and that every rig returning is properly inspected, logged, and prepared for reuse. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position where precision, consistency, and discipline are paramount. You will work on-site at the inventory hub, following a shift schedule from 6 PM to 3 AM, and report directly to the Inventory Manager while escalating hardware faults to the Hardware/IT team.

Key Responsibilities

• Inbound Inspection: Receive rigs and accessories (cameras, SD cards, card readers, cables, mounts) returning from the field; check physical condition for damage, loose mounts, worn cables, and cleanliness; verify all issued components are present against the checkout record and flag any missing items.
• Functional QC & Test Recording: Power up each rig, confirm cameras open, storage is available, and devices are charged/charging correctly. Capture short test recordings and review them for camera alignment, footage clarity, stability, audio presence, and timestamps. Ensure SD cards read correctly, previous session data is offloaded, and cards are cleared and ready for reuse.
• Outbound Approval: Give the final go/no-go before a rig is handed to a Field Officer. Ensure the rig leaves fully charged, correctly configured, and with the right accessories. Sign off in the tracker to maintain traceability of every field-ready rig.
• Fault Handling & Escalation: Quarantine any rig that fails QC to prevent it from going to field. Log the exact fault (which component, what's wrong) and escalate hardware faults to the Hardware/IT team. Follow up to ensure repaired rigs are re-checked before re-entering circulation.
• Documentation & Discipline: Maintain clean, complete QC records in Google Sheets—every rig, every check, pass/fail, date/time, and reason. Keep the QC and quarantine areas organized and controlled. Follow the QC checklist exactly, every time, with no shortcuts or assumptions.
