Role Overview

As the Head of Pipeline, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the architecture, development, deployment, and maintenance of the VFX pipeline at BOT VFX. This is a critical leadership position that reports directly to the CEO and collaborates closely with the CIO to synchronize the pipeline strategy with the studio’s overarching creative, technical, and business objectives. You will lead a diverse team, including Pipeline TDs, Developers, and a Product Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintain the long-term roadmap of the studio's VFX pipeline, ensuring tools are artist-friendly, scalable, and stable.
• Manage change initiatives to ensure effective onboarding and enablement of users across all workflows.
• Oversee the department's budget and capacity management, balancing resources for long-term projects against immediate show support demands.
• Directly supervise, mentor, and guide a team responsible for timely software releases.
• Collaborate closely with VFX Supervisors and creative leads to resolve workflow bottlenecks, advocating for and executing swift, decisive pipeline adjustments as needed.
• Promote a strong user experience culture within the pipeline team by developing tools that enhance usability for artists and minimize complexity.
• Investigate and incorporate modern open-source technologies alongside leading commercial DCCs to keep the studio's infrastructure competitive.

You will also establish comprehensive software engineering standards, implement continuous delivery practices, and manage robust data lifecycle protocols applicable throughout project setups and configurations.

Salary

Estimated salary range for this role is ₹1,50,000 - ₹2,00,000 per month.

Required Skills

• Experience: 10-12 years in the VFX industry, with 5-7 years in leadership in pipeline departments.
• Technical Skills: Strong background in pipeline development (Python, C++, Qt/PySide, Git).
• DCC Knowledge: Deep understanding of standard VFX DCCs, asset management systems, and core APIs.
• Leadership: Proven experience in supervising teams and managing time-critical delivery constraints.
• UX Design: Commitment to artist-friendly UX design with the ability to create intuitive tools.
• Open-source Familiarity: Experience with modern open-source pipeline frameworks (AYON/OpenPype preferred).
• Communication: Exceptional negotiation and communication skills with stakeholders across disciplines.
