Design and iterate on UI/UX for a consumer mobile app used by thousands of college students. Own the design process from concept to implementation, working closely with product managers and engineers.
Viral Fission is a dynamic startup building Vi-Fi, a consumer mobile app purpose-built for college students in India. With a deep-rooted understanding of youth culture and digital habits, the company focuses on creating an app that feels natural, engaging, and truly native to its audience. The team is collaborative, immersed in how students interact with platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube, ensuring every design decision is backed by real user behavior. At Viral Fission, you won't just design in a vacuum — you'll have direct access to app store reviews, in-app feedback, analytics, and user interviews, giving you a genuine front-row seat to how the product evolves. This is an environment where curiosity is encouraged, and product thinking is valued just as much as pixel-perfect screens.
We are looking for a Junior UI/UX Product Designer to take ownership of the end-to-end design experience for the Vi-Fi app. You'll work on everything from early concept wireframes to high-fidelity UI, covering onboarding flows, core features, and post-launch improvements. This role is ideal for someone with 0–1 year of experience — including internships or strong college project work — who is ready to have real impact on a live product used by thousands of college students. You'll partner closely with product managers and engineers, staying involved through the entire build cycle, not just handing off files. Your designs will be data-informed, and you'll continuously iterate based on how the app is actually being used.
Estimated Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹50,000 per month (based on industry standards for a junior role in Mumbai with 0–1 year experience; not explicitly stated in the listing)
Additional benefits include real product ownership, direct mentorship from senior leads, and the opportunity to see your work impact thousands of real users.
0–1 years of experience in UI/UX design (internships and strong college projects count). A portfolio demonstrating process and reasoning, ideally with product (app) work. Working proficiency in Figma or similar tools. Strong understanding of mobile-first design, responsive layout, and platform conventions (Android/iOS). Solid grasp of UX fundamentals: information architecture, user flows, usability heuristics. Product thinking and curiosity about user behavior. Strong communication skills to explain and defend design decisions.
Real ownership on a live consumer product used by thousands of college students, direct mentorship from senior product and design leads, front-row seat to product evolution based on user behavior, collaborative team immersed in youth culture.
