Role Overview

We are hiring a Lead – Operations to work directly with the CEO – India as his second in command on the day-to-day running of the India teams. This is a highly accountable role where you will stay on top of every open item across teams — product and technology, finance, client delivery, and US-based leadership. You will drive execution through influence and rapport, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. The role requires a background in Indian IT services delivery, where work is completed on the client’s deadline, not on the team’s convenience. Additionally, this is an AI-native role: Occams is building itself as an AI-native company, so you must already use AI tools daily, write clear specs that AI agents and developers can build from, and demonstrate what AI-native work looks like to the team. You will also be responsible for the company’s own CRM and ERP platforms. The role is based in Delhi or Dehradun, with a shift aligned to US hours (4:00 PM to 1:00 AM IST) and flexibility when client commitments require it. Over time, this role grows into running operations for the India business.

Key Responsibilities

Running Operations

• Own the operational tracker in Asana: every open item has an owner, a blocker (if any), a next step, and a date. Keep it current daily.
• Follow up and close loops: chase, remember why things are stuck, and get them unstuck. Forwarding a file does not count as done.
• Be the single point of status for leadership on any open item.
• Run meetings that end in actions: set agenda, capture decisions and owners, and update Asana same day.
• Write and maintain SOPs for work you run; check they are actually followed.

Running Projects

• Own scope and requirements: turn leadership and client requests into written scope with acceptance criteria.
• Plan and schedule backwards from committed dates, with milestones, dependencies, and ownership. Identify slippage early.
• Manage team time: know who is on what, foresee overload, and redistribute work before dates slip.
• Manage risks and issues: maintain a live risk list, escalate early, never let a known risk turn into surprise.
• Control change: when scope changes, document impact on date and effort before agreement.
• Run quality and acceptance testing: define done, conduct UAT with business users, sign off before release.
• Coordinate releases with technology team and business, including communication and rollback plan.
• Manage vendors: relationships with outside developers, IT vendors, SaaS providers — contracts, SLAs, and follow-ups.
• Report to stakeholders: weekly written status, monthly review with leadership, and clear presentations for decisions.
• Track key metrics: on-time delivery, age of open items, post-release defects, and use them for continuous improvement.

Working AI-Native

• Use AI tools (Claude Code, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) daily for drafting, analysis, automation, and building small tools.
• Write specs that AI and developers can build from, keeping what is wanted separate from how it gets built.
• Automate repeated work: reporting, status updates, data checks. If a task is done the same way twice, ask if an agent can do it.
• Record work (decisions, processes, outcomes) so it can be automated later.
• Redo workflows when a better AI approach appears; be willing to throw out methods every few months.
• Help the team adopt AI: show how, set the example, and call out when spreadsheets/chat threads/memory are used where a system should be.

Supporting the CEO – India

• Work as second in command: prepare updates, take on delegated tasks, ensure nothing agreed in leadership conversations gets lost.
• Present like a consultant: put problem, options, and recommendation clearly in front of leadership or clients.

Tech Stack

• CRM/ERP platforms: Salesforce, Zoho, Dynamics, SAP, Odoo (or home-grown)
• AI tools: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT (or similar)
• Automation tools: Zapier, Make, n8n
• Project management: Asana, Jira
• Productivity suites: Google Workspace or Microsoft Office (for documentation and presentations)
• Basic understanding of software delivery lifecycle

Education: Bachelor's degree, engineering or similar preferred. PMP, PRINCE2, or a Master's degree is good to have but not required. Experience:

• 5 to 8 years in project or delivery management at an Indian IT services or software company, with at least 2 years running client deliveries against fixed deadlines.
• At least one stint at a large, well-organized company where process, documentation, and delivery discipline were taken seriously.
• Part of a team that built, customized, or rolled out a CRM or ERP product (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho, Dynamics, SAP, Odoo, or home-grown).
• Worked with US-based clients or handled a US team; comfortable on US calls and US working hours. Essential technical skills:
• Asana, Jira, or similar as single source of truth.
• AI tools in daily use (Claude Code, etc.).
• Presentation skills at the level of an EY or McKinsey consultant.
• Clear written and spoken English.
• Track record of closing things out.
• Basic understanding of software delivery. Preferred skills: PMP/PRINCE2 or Master's; hands-on ERP/CRM operations; built automations with Zapier/Make/n8n; experience in professional services or advisory firm.
