Role Overview

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Platform team in Hyderabad, India. This role is responsible for building and maintaining all backend services, including payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text-to-speech, and external APIs. It is ideal for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in fast-paced environments, is passionate about product decisions, and has experience creating great user experiences. Speechify operates as a flat organization where anyone can become a leader by demonstrating excellent technical skills and delivering results consistently and quickly. Work ethic, solid communication, and an obsession with winning are paramount. The interview process involves several technical interviews, typically completed within one week.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs, including the public TTS API and internal APIs for Payment, Subscription, Auth, and Consumption Tracking, ensuring they meet business and scalability requirements
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
• Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience

Tech Stack

• TypeScript/Node.js (primary backend language)
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for cloud infrastructure
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration (preferred)
• Experience with AWS or Azure is a plus
• High availability application deployment patterns

An Ideal Candidate Should Have:

• Proven experience in backend development with TypeScript/Node.js (required)
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
• Efficiency in ideation and implementation, with ability to prioritize based on urgency and impact
• Preferred: Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
• Preferred: Proficiency in deploying high availability applications on Kubernetes
• Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic
