Role Overview

The Principal Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing complex enterprise-scale functionality across our platform, with a key focus on application modernization and architecture. The successful candidate will provide guidance and mentorship to other developers, acting as a subject matter expert and leading one or more scrum teams. This position will involve making critical architectural decisions for transitioning legacy systems to modern platforms. The Principal Engineer will participate in agile teams to estimate and groom backlog items, ensuring that the end product meets the highest standards of quality, scalability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for product owners and external teams.
• Drive architectural and design decisions for the modernization of legacy applications to current technology stacks.
• Responsible for production support and team's scrum master role.
• Develop and maintain front-end applications using Angular, along with business logic and SQL Server stored procedures using .NET.
• Define and promote architectural best practices, coding standards, and design patterns across teams.
• Collaborate with business analysts and architects to clarify requirements and evaluate modernization options.
• Investigate third-level support requests and reach out for external help when faced with unresolved technical challenges.
• Evaluate current-state systems and recommend roadmaps for migrating legacy components to modern architectures.

• 12+ years of relevant web application/services development experience
• 8+ years large enterprise or e-business systems experience
• Proven experience driving application/platform modernization initiatives
• Strong hands-on expertise with Angular and .NET / .NET Core
• Expert skills with C#, SQL Server, RESTful/Microservice Architecture, Unit Testing, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles and patterns
• Ability to work independently on complex architectural problems
• Strong skills in Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Experience with Azure, Docker, cloud-native application design
• Familiarity with Pub/Sub and asynchronous messaging patterns
• Knowledge of MVVM and modern front-end architecture patterns
• Experience with Azure CosmosDB or other NoSQL databases is preferred
• Excellent communication skills to present architectural recommendations
