Role Overview

We are seeking a Principal Engineer for Network Software Test to join our Bangalore team. In this role, you will lead the design and execution of comprehensive test plans for complex networking features and solutions. You will work closely with top-notch talent to ensure the highest quality of our software, from manual and automated testing to triaging customer issues. This position offers the opportunity to drive performance, stability, and scalability testing, build automated regression frameworks, and mentor new hires. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, creative, and agile, with deep expertise in networking protocols and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and write detailed test plans for new features and solutions.
• Perform manual and automated testing of networking software using Python.
• Triage and reproduce internal and customer-found issues, ensuring rapid resolution.
• Automate test cases and integrate them into the regression framework.
• Conduct peer reviews of test plans, automation code, feature specifications, and engineering documents.
• Design and build test network topologies for performance, stability, and scalability.
• Plan, schedule, track, and report project status through customer delivery stages.
• Improve performance and scale of existing features and solutions.
• Mentor new hires and contribute to team growth.

BS/MS in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent; 16+ years hands-on test experience with networking protocols (STP, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS, BFD, MLAG, EVPN, VxLAN, SR-MPLS, SRv6); proficiency in Python, IXIA; experience with Robot Framework, Jinja2, Jenkins, Git, JIRA; knowledge of Docker, VMs; familiarity with merchant silicon and whitebox platforms; DevOps experience with AWS/GCP/Azure preferred; startup experience a plus.
