Role Overview

As a Senior Assembly Engineer, you will own end-to-end build quality on the production floor. This hands-on role requires deep expertise in assembly line operations for desktops, all-in-one PCs, laptops, and thin clients. You will drive SOP definition, quality assurance, yield improvement, and technician training. The position is based at the RDP Assembly Facility in Nacharam, Hyderabad and reports to the Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Assembly Line Operations: Supervise the assembly line across desktop, AIO, laptop, and thin-client product lines.
• SOP Definition & Enforcement: Define and enforce standard operating procedures for assembly steps, torque specs, cable routing, thermal paste application, screen alignment, and packaging.
• Quality Assurance: Manage quality gates including incoming PCB inspection, in-process checks, final functional test, and cosmetic quality control.
• Training & Supervision: Train and supervise assembly technicians and trainees to ensure adherence to RDP build standards.
• Yield Improvement: Drive root-cause analysis on defects, implement corrective actions, and update FMEAs.
• NPI Support: Coordinate with R&D and design teams on new product introduction, first-article builds, and design-for-manufacturing feedback.
• Data Discipline: Maintain serial-level traceability in Odoo ERP, manage BOM consumption, and batch tracking.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive 5S, kaizen, and lean practices on the shop floor.

• Assembly Tooling: Torque drivers, calibration tools, ESD-safe handling equipment, thermal paste applicators, alignment jigs.
• Product Architecture: Desktop, AIO, laptop, thin-client architectures — motherboards, CPUs, RAM, SSDs, PSUs, cooling systems, displays, peripherals.
• Quality Tools: FMEA, SPC (Statistical Process Control), root-cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Lean Manufacturing: 5S, kaizen, value stream mapping.

Minimum 4 years of hands-on electronics or IT hardware assembly experience (desktops, AIOs, laptops, or similar consumer/enterprise IT). Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics. Solid grasp of PC architecture — motherboards, CPUs, RAM, SSDs, PSUs, cooling, displays, peripherals. Comfortable with assembly tooling — torque drivers, calibration, ESD-safe handling, thermal compound, alignment jigs. Experience in writing or maintaining SOPs, FMEAs, or quality gates. Team leadership experience — supervised or trained a team of 4+ technicians. Lean / 5S / kaizen exposure is a strong plus.
