Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to lead a team of design engineers and junior design engineers in the development of building maintenance units. In this role, you will guide the technical design process, manage projects from concept through to manufacturing, and ensure high-quality outputs that meet time and design requirements. You will work closely with the Design Manager and coordinate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, and commissioning. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering background, expertise in 3D CAD and structural analysis tools, and a proven ability to innovate and reduce design revisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 2–3 Design Engineers and 2–3 Junior Design Engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to design standards.
• Project Management: Handle 1–2 projects simultaneously, taking ownership from concept development to manufacturing drawings, while meeting timelines and design specifications.
• Technical Submittals: Prepare technical submittals and coordinate with clients for approvals, ensuring clear communication of design intent.
• Detailed Design: Perform detailed design of all subassemblies and assemblies, supported by relevant calculations (mechanics, hydraulics, drives, tolerances).
• Manufacturing Support: Create manufacturing drawings and collaborate with the production team throughout assembly, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Design Validation: Conduct site visits for design validation and ensure real-world performance meets design expectations.
• Quality Assurance: Monitor and check design outputs from the team, enforce company design standards, and implement continuous improvement to reduce design revisions.
• Innovation: Generate and implement innovative solutions, test new approaches, and improve design processes.
• Communication: Actively communicate project progress, interact with other functions (production, quality, client support), and respond promptly to queries.

Tech Stack

• CAD Software: AutoCAD (must have), SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor (3D) (must have)
• Structural Analysis: Staad Pro (preferred)
• MS Office: MS Excel for design calculators and reporting
• Core Engineering Knowledge: Mechanics, Drives & Controls, Hydraulics, Fits & Tolerances (including geometric tolerance), Machine Elements
• Design Concepts: Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and quality concepts
• Communication: Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized institute. Interested in Research & Development in mechanical engineering fields. Prior experience in Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) design is an added advantage. Essential knowledge: mechanics, drives & controls, hydraulics, fits & tolerances, geometric tolerance, machine elements. Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor (3D). Familiarity with Staad Pro is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills. Organized, problem-solving attitude, solution-oriented, team player, self-starter. Ability to work under pressure, target-driven, quality-conscious, attention to detail, fluent in English. Stress resistant, good time management, multitasking, interactive with cross-functional teams.
