Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a coding agent that enhances software engineering workflows. This agent operates directly within customer environments, ensuring that complex software engineering tasks can be executed efficiently and safely. You will collaborate with other engineers and researchers to create tools and integrations that empower the agent to perform effectively in diverse contexts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement the agent architecture and its tool surface for various software tasks, including retrieval, editing, builds, tests, and version control.
• Ensure the verification process for changes to the codebase is robust, establishing correctness before human review.
• Develop long-horizon execution capabilities that include multi-file refactoring and migrations, complete with checkpointing and recovery features.
• Define the authorization and rollback model that governs the agent’s actions and undo functionality.
• Create and maintain integrations with existing engineering tools and systems while ensuring effective observability for debugging and auditing purposes.
• Collaborate with research teams on the evaluation design and interpretability of agent behavior to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the developed systems.

• Deep experience with developer tooling and IDEs including editor and IDE internals or extensions.
• Proficient in code intelligence and program analysis including ASTs, static and dataflow analysis.
• Skilled in build systems and CI/CD tools like Bazel, Gradle, and Jenkins.
• Familiarity with observability tools including distributed tracing and structured logging.
• Experience with integrations engineering, particularly in self-hosted environments.
• Understanding of agentic systems in production environments.
• Strong backend skills with advanced Python, API development, and containerisation.
• Ability to reason about performance, reliability, cost, safety, and interpretability.
• Experience in building evaluation datasets or frameworks for AI systems is a plus.
• Background in compilers, working with large monorepos, or legacy modernization is advantageous.
