Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer with 4–7 years of software engineering experience and strong hands-on experience building and operating production backend services.
In this role, you'll own backend services, APIs, or modules end-to-end, contributing to design, development, deployment, production operations, and continuous improvement. You'll work on scalable and reliable systems while contributing to High-Level Designs, technical decisions, code reviews, and engineering practices.
You'll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, manage technical dependencies, solve production challenges, and mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own backend services, APIs, or modules end-to-end, including design, development, deployment, maintenance, and ongoing improvements.
- Design and develop scalable, reliable backend services and APIs that support core product capabilities.
- Write efficient, maintainable, and production-grade code while following established engineering standards.
- Design and develop well-structured APIs and service interfaces to support internal and external system integrations.
- Drive the design and implementation of scalable solutions, contributing to High-Level Designs and providing appropriate technical inputs.
- Apply asynchronous programming, concurrency, and event-driven patterns where appropriate to build efficient and responsive backend services.
- Design data schemas and write efficient queries while ensuring data integrity and appropriate database performance.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using appropriate approaches such as query optimization, caching, concurrency, and load balancing.
- Own the operational quality of assigned services, including performance, reliability, monitoring, technical debt, bug fixes, and production issues.
- Participate in production troubleshooting, incident resolution, and on-call activities as required.
- Monitor service health and performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate across engineering and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, manage dependencies, and deliver features effectively.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and help evaluate architectural trade-offs within the team.
- Conduct code reviews and provide actionable technical feedback to maintain code quality and consistency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them improve their engineering practices and problem-solving skills.
- Contribute to testing practices, technical documentation, and engineering processes that improve development quality and maintainability.
- Identify opportunities to improve development and operational workflows, automation, and engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with platform, DevOps, frontend, and other engineering teams to ensure reliable integration and deployment of backend services.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in system reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
