Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product across all platforms. As a senior engineer, you will work at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience. You will collaborate with product teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs. This role is ideal for someone who thinks in systems, values simplicity, and wants to make a large impact in a transformative industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
• Optimize existing functionality—such as faster loading and more intelligent parsing—by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
• Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and batch jobs using Kotlin (including Kotlin Multiplatform).
• Contribute to the design and evolution of the core SDK that unifies Speechify's user experience across mobile, web, and desktop.
• Work end-to-end: from ideation through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

Tech Stack

• Primary Language: Kotlin (including Kotlin Multiplatform)
• Cloud Platform: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – preferred
• Additional: Java experience is acceptable but the role is focused on Kotlin Multiplatform
• Other: Experience with cross-platform SDK development, API design, and distributed systems.
