Own SLOs, lead incident response, and automate toil on a remote-first contract basis.
About the Company Balusen Technologies is a technology services firm that operates with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and platform reliability. Headquartered in India, the company serves clients who demand robust, scalable systems. Balusen's engineering philosophy centers on the belief that "reliability is a feature" — meaning uptime, performance, and resilience are treated as first-class product attributes rather than afterthoughts. The company fosters a culture of collaboration where Site Reliability Engineers work alongside development teams as partners, not enforcers. This approach creates a healthy, blameless incident culture where learning and improvement are prioritized over blame. Balusen Technologies embraces a remote-first working model, allowing talent from across India, particularly Bangalore, to contribute to building reliable systems. For this engagement, the company is looking for a dedicated SRE who thrives in high-pressure situations and is passionate about automating toil away.
Role Overview We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with 3–4 years of experience in SRE or platform engineering to join our team on a full-time contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who understands that reliability is a feature and wants to make a tangible impact on system uptime and performance. As an SRE at Balusen, you will not be a traditional operations engineer policing developers; instead, you will partner with development teams to design, build, and maintain reliable systems. You will be responsible for defining SLOs, managing error budgets, and ensuring critical services meet their reliability targets. The position is remote-friendly, based out of Bangalore, and offers the flexibility of contract work. If you remain calm during incidents and have a passion for automating operational tasks, this role provides the perfect platform to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Tech Stack The role requires hands-on experience with: Linux, Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3), Prometheus, Grafana, and general observability tooling (logging, tracing). Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus. On-call incident management tools and runbooks are also part of the daily toolkit.
3–4 years of SRE or platform engineering experience, strong Linux and networking fundamentals, hands-on observability stack experience, and the ability to stay calm during production incidents.
Remote-first contract, flexible work culture, blameless incident environment, and the opportunity to build reliable systems from the ground up.
