Role Overview

Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer to join its AI team focused on data infrastructure and acquisition. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing data collection methods that support model training operations. The engineer will contribute to building high-quality datasets at petabyte scale while maintaining low costs through an integrated approach involving infrastructure, engineering, and research.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and source new audio data to integrate into the ingestion pipeline.
• Manage and extend the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, primarily running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and governed with Terraform.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to refine processes that balance cost, throughput, and quality while delivering richer data to enhance model performance.
• Work alongside AI team members and leadership to establish a detailed dataset roadmap that furthers the development of the next-generation consumer and enterprise products.

Requirements

• Education: BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments.
  • Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
  • Professional experience with GCP or another major Cloud Provider.
• Bonus: Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
