Role Overview

As a Software Engineer within the Data team at Speechify, you will play a pivotal role in all facets of data collection crucial for model training operations. This role combines elements of infrastructure, engineering, and research to construct high-quality datasets at petabyte scale while minimizing costs. You will work closely with scientists and the AI team to enhance the efficiency and richness of data to fuel next-generation models.

Key Responsibilities

• Seek out and integrate new sources of audio data into our ingestion pipeline.
• Enhance and manage cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline, currently built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and managed with Terraform.
• Collaborate with AI scientists to improve cost efficiency, throughput, and data quality, enabling richer data contributions for greater scale operations.
• Work alongside the AI team and leadership to shape the dataset roadmap that powers future consumer and enterprise products at Speechify.

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in software development
• Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments
• Expertise in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts
• Professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (GCP preferred)
• Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is advantageous
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
