Role Overview

The company is seeking a Staff Engineer - UI to take charge of frontend architecture and drive engineering excellence across various teams. This role is designed for engineers with significant frontend expertise who can demonstrate strong systems thinking and a zeal for creating leverage through reusable platforms and frameworks. The ideal candidate will strategically influence technical direction across product and platform teams, improving consistency, scalability, and maintainability within Ontic's frontend ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture: Lead the definition of frontend architecture patterns for multiple product teams, ensuring adoption of scalable architectural practices.
• Platform Development: Promote shared frontend platforms and frameworks, reducing duplication of efforts and improving engineering speed.
• Technical Direction: Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to align architectural decisions with organizational objectives.
• Quality Assurance: Establish standards for performance, accessibility, and user experience in frontend applications while improving developer experience with better tooling.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor other engineers, elevating the overall frontend engineering standards within the organization, guiding them in sound technical decisions.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of software engineering experience focused on frontend development.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience with React or similar frameworks in large-scale applications.
• Strong understanding of browser internals, rendering, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of modern frontend tooling and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with observability and performance tracking tools is a plus.
