Role Overview

As the Tech Lead for the Android Core Product, you will play a critical role in managing the growth of Speechify's Android app, currently the most used text-to-speech app on the Play Store. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments, is passionate about product development, and has extensive experience in creating exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Own major features within the app and collaborate with the design team to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Shape the future direction of the Android team and enhance the app’s reliability metrics.
• Engage in cross-team collaboration, being a vital link between Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Review pull requests and provide support for team members, especially during critical issues or challenges.
• Manage feature releases and facilitate nightly builds for the QA team to ensure continuous improvement.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Familiarity with Android components
• Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app
• Product design intuition and user empathy
• Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX
• Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing tests
• Experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests
• Excellent communication skills
• User-oriented problem-solving approach
• Driven with continuous feedback from leaders
