Role Overview

We are seeking a highly dedicated, motivated, and passionate Technical Manager of Software Development to join our team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will be a key part of an Agile/Scrum team, playing a vital role in all aspects of product development—design, development, integration, and testing. You will be responsible for building and managing high-performance software development teams, enabling high-quality execution against project plans, and providing hands-on leadership. You will also work closely with team members to understand their career goals, facilitate decision-making, and promote best engineering practices. This role offers the satisfaction of seeing your work in production at our clients' sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and manage high-performance software development teams by hiring, inspiring, mentoring, and growing world-class software engineers.
• Enable high-quality execution of software products against project plans and delivery commitments.
• Provide hands-on leadership to software development engineers within an Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating closely with the delivery manager and technical leads.
• Deliver detailed reports and metrics on a regular basis regarding the status of developers and teams.
• Work closely with team members to understand their aspirations, skill sets, and career goals, helping them create annual and long-term plans for achievement.
• Facilitate decision-making, issue resolution, and consensus among team members.
• Promote best engineering practices, including design review, code reviews, and deployments using DevSecOps.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

8+ years of experience in software development and delivery. BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience). Extensive experience with design and development of complex distributed systems. Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design. Experience leading software development teams, managing priorities, setting expectations, and delivering on commitments. Knowledge of software development/product lifecycle, methodologies (Agile, Kanban, DevOps) and IT roles with good understanding of agile methods and techniques. Flexible person capable of handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Experience working with fully distributed teams with strong delivery management background. Ability to dive deep into technical areas and achieve optimal outcomes. Project management skills including estimating, scope management, budget management, time management, risk management, change management, issue/conflict resolution, communication management, quality management, testing plans, training plans, and team management. Excellent business communication and time management skills. Active participation in relevant Agile communities. Good understanding of cloud-based technologies (AWS/GCP) and DevOps. Coding skills in Java, Kotlin, C++, or Python; database design and SQL; knowledge of TCP/IP and network programming. Preferred: Experience in a presale’s environment from solutioning to client communication, and experience with ad technology.
