Role Overview

As an Unreal Engine Developer, you will take ownership of the UE5 runtime responsible for transforming Master Geometry JSON into fully built, lit, and navigable homes. Your role focuses on systems and tools rather than level design. You will be tasked with developing the procedural construction engine, runtime material system, and streaming integration to ensure high performance and seamless experiences for users.

Key Responsibilities

• Procedural Scene Construction: Design and maintain a multi-phase runtime build pipeline that assembles a complete home from modular assets, while consuming Master Geometry JSON.
• Runtime Mesh & Kit Assembly: Utilize JSON-driven dimensions to spawn and place modular components, while generating procedural geometry where necessary.
• Cabinetry & Joinery Placement: Efficiently iterate cabinetry runs and position various kitchen components using parsed data.
• Material System: Implement a dynamic material-instance system for real-time swapping of finishes from a variety of brands, enhancing the customization experience.
• Lighting: Develop an automatic lighting system leveraging Lumen for real-time global illumination based on real-world conditions.
• Performance Optimization: Utilize Nanite, LODs, and pooling techniques to optimize performance and achieve construction targets for interactive streaming.
• Pixel Streaming: Configure UE5 Pixel Streaming for browser delivery, ensuring low latency interactions for users.
• Backend Coordination: Collaborate with backend teams to manage JSON ingestion and validation processes.
• Asset Pipeline: Work with 3D artists to establish naming conventions and standards for asset importation that ensure compatibility with the procedural builder.
• Robustness: Implement measures to gracefully handle unsupported features and maintain scene validation and QA.

• Performance Optimization: Strong skills in profiling, LODs, instancing, draw-call/VRAM budgets.
